Denver Active 20-30 Children’s Foundation (“Foundation”) continues to closely follow the spread of the COVID-19 virus and its impact on our community.
The challenges of effectively preventing the spread of the virus and ensuring our patrons’ safety and welfare are central in our minds and we will not proceed with Foundation events unless this can be assured. We also are committed to continuing the Foundation’s 33-year history of supporting Colorado’s disadvantaged and at-risk youth. Guided by these principles, the Foundation has made two important decisions.
First, the Foundation will reschedule the 2020 Denver Polo Classic presented by Schomp BMW to August 21-23, 2020. At that time, we hope we will be able to welcome you back safely to the largest charity polo tournament in the United States, deliver the five-star guest experience for which we are known and, together, generate much needed funds for Colorado’s children. The fallout from this pandemic will have lasting impacts on the most vulnerable among us, and we need your support now and, in the future, more than ever.
We will continue to monitor the circumstances vigilantly and to work closely with local jurisdictions to ensure that safe events can be held. We will update all of our stakeholders as circumstances dictate.
Second, non-profits are making difficult choices about how to provide services safely to vulnerable populations and to maintain organizational capacity. The Foundation believes in the organizations we select for funding and is dedicated to standing by them in difficult times. Accordingly, we notified all 2020 Grant Recipients on March 30 that the Foundation has released all restrictions on funding for this year. We are confident this decision will allow each organization to rise to the challenge and to provide the most impactful services to Colorado’s disadvantaged and at-risk youth. We hope other foundations and non-profit funders will consider similar actions.
Our primary concern remains the welfare of our community, partners, sponsors, and members. Please follow the CDC’s guidance and Colorado’s stay-at-home order to protect yourself and others.
