A key focus of DA20-30 is the development of future philanthropic leaders in our community. This starts with bringing the right type of men and developing them into leaders.
Matt Conway is a new member and he has already shown in his first event with the group that he has the type of heart we look for in our members.
Matt’s first event with the group was Christmas for Kids. Christmas is a difficult time for lower income families. Every year for this event each member of DA20-30 is assigned a child that they pick early in the morning to head to Target before the doors open. Once inside, children between the ages of 6 and 13, run through the aisles in order to find the perfect gifts for the special people in their lives. It is amazing to see the joy in these children and how much they look forward to this event. It is truly in the spirit of Christmas that they are shopping for gifts for their families and not for themselves.
Matt was supposed to pick up a boy named Daniel. The night before the event, Daniel’s mother called to let Matt know that Daniel would not be able to make it – he was sick and had to be hospitalized. Matt felt terrible that Daniel would miss out on the fun so Matt took it upon himself to make sure Daniel did not miss out. When Daniel was well and back home, Matt coordinated to take Daniel out shopping to Target to buy gifts for his family. Matt took time of work and his own money to make this happen. He went above and beyond what was expected to make sure that Daniel knows that people care about him. Matt is an excellent example of the type of men we recruit and develop in Denver Active 20-30 Children’s Foundation.
